How we started
Lagos State Tailors and Fashion Designers Association (LASTFADAN) came in existence in the year 2008 as an initiative by the formal governor of Lagos State Babatunde Raji Fashola. Prior to this time, Lagos State had a multitude of fashion associations that struggled to gain legal recognition. We recognized at this time that this situation was not helpful to the advancement of the Nigerian fashion industry. This realization led to the merging of all associations – a difficult task at the time. Now LASTFADAN is a UNIFIED association.

How we set up our structures
In 2008, LASTFADAN established the first Committee called the Dialog Committee. This Committee took charge of pulling together the multitude of tailors in Lagos State. We reached out, sent information and combed the entire State to promote the idea of unity. LASTFADAN today is a combination of 12 founding associations.

That name Lagos State Tailors and Fashion Designers, has been existing at Ebute Meta axis and all these groups came together and were able to talk to each other and agreed to start the amalgamation process. LASTFADAN works in collaboration with Lagos State’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry who supported us immensely in the amalgamation exercise.

The two year journey led to the LASTFADAN inauguration party at the National Stadium in 2010. LASTFADAN enjoyed the support of Senator Solomon, the then Commissioner of Lagos State’s Ministry of Commerce and Commerce and Deniyi Oyemode, who was the host of the program. There are people who are the apex leaders of this Association some of whom are Chief Adebisi Daramola Fasasi, Alhaji Olayinka Yahya Sodiq, Chief Mrs. Jarinat Olufunmilayo Faridat and Comrade Fatai Adeshina Akanbi.

Today, with more 10,000 members in 25 local governments enrolled in our membership, the organization continues to thrive thanks to the demand for high quality custom clothing – a demand that is ever on the increase as affluent consumers everywhere seek customization in many aspects of their lives.

LASTFADAN members meet the demand with custom clothing and accessories. Valued vendor associate members provide goods such as custom natives, English, fabrics and accessories as well, make and trim services and other tools vital to LASTFADAN members.
